Protect your home from burglary
Burglars can slip into a home and quickly make off with valuables. But by following some sound advice, you can deter the wiliest of thieves--and maybe even keep them from preying on your home.
1. Keep the bushes and trees near your home well-trimmed. Thick, tall shrubbery provides cover for burglars. 2. Organize a Neighborhood Watch program. Neighbors working together make one of the best crime- fighting teams around. 3. Display "Beware" signs. If you have a dog or an alarm system, put up signs that say you do. 4. Make a home inventory list, complete with photos and video, and store it away from your home. 5. Never leave a house key in such obvious places as the mailbox or under a doormat. 6. Put your house and car keys on separate rings and avoid putting identification tags on keys. 7. When you go on vacation, implement a security plan that includes having a trusted neighbor pick up the mail and newspaper.
